This was a challenging audience when it came to zoning in on the true target audience. When talking with the owner of the West Hill Grill he kept assuring me this was "a family joint" or "warm cabin"; however, when you truly take a look around this is a place where you can find a big bald man who goes by the name Spyder (as in Spider with a 'Y' because he is "hip"). On top of that it is located between a pot shop and a tattoo parlor. As you can imagine this was a rough introduction to my newly 21 year old bar years. It truly was not giving off a family vibe I was being told about. I spent several days/weeks stopping by at different hours and took diligent notes. As the days passed I began to recognize the familiar faces of the regulars to this bar. Eventually I came to the realization that this was not a family in the homely wife and kids sort of sense, but rather a place where everyone knows and accepts you. A spot for you to park your bike out back while kick your feet up with a beer and some grub. This was my new direction:
